ACTIAM signs Finance for Biodiversity Pledge
25 September 2020 , Collective commitment by the financial sector
ACTIAM is one of the 26 financial institutions from around the globe that have signed the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge. In the Pledge the signatories call upon world leaders to reverse nature loss this decade and commit to collaborating, engaging, assessing their own biodiversity impact, setting targets and reporting on biodiversity matters by 2024 at the latest.
Frank Kusse, CEO ACTIAM: “We take this pledge because ACTIAM sees it as its fiduciary duty to support the transition to a sustainable society. We recognise that financial returns do not matter if there is no future with a good quality of life for our clients to enjoy. The business case for biodiversity is clear: recently, the Dutch Central Bank estimated that the Dutch financial sector is exposed to significant financial losses, with around EUR 510 billion dependent on ecosystems services."
Collective commitment by the financial sector
The Finance for Biodiversity Pledge is a collective commitment by the finance sector itself. The pledge was established by a group of European financial institutions which have been working actively as members of the Finance and Biodiversity Community (F@B Community).
